About the Role

UX writing sits within our Platform Tribe in a Shared Services Pod composed of Product Designers, UX Writers, and Developers. 

This team works across all Tribes and Pods to systematically elevate holistic product design, content, and development solutions.

As a UX Writer on this team, you will work with one other UX Writer and report to our Director of Product Design, who manages the Shared Services Pod.

UX writing and strategy as a practice are integral to a unified, modernized, user-friendly, and cohesive end-to-end Whatfix product narrative and experience. 

It increases the usability of the Whatfix product and the ability and speed with which our customers gain value from our product. 

The shared services core product is Navi, our design system. In the same way a design system attempts to systematize UI, it also systematizes the way we handle content patterns like:

  • Voice and tone
  • Naming and labeling
  • Grammar, vocabulary, and terminology
  • Defining and framing new and existing product concepts and how they fit together as a whole
  • Situational, educational, celebratory, introductory, motivational, or error guidance and content
  • Approach to internationalization 
  • Approach to accessibility
  • Information and content architecture

What you will do

Alongside our UX writer, you will help to define, prioritize, integrate, systematize, and measure content. In doing so you will help to guide the creation, delivery, and governance of useful, usable content. 

Navi foundations and component guidance:

  • Help discover, document, educate, onboard, and provide guidance on Navi Design System best practices and usage to ensure cohesion and comprehension
  • Help to create content foundations
  • Help create content guidelines for different situations within the product (educational, celebratory, introductory, motivational, or errors)
  • Help shape content approach to internationalization
  • Help shape content approach to accessibility
  • Help create guidelines for each component to guide Designers and Product Managers in understanding what content to use for each specific context
  • Define accessibility guidelines for each component

Cross-product guidance:

  • Partner with UX designers and project managers to solve user and business issues and improve the Whatfix experience, ensuring content and design work together to meet user needs, advocating for users by helping to craft interface content, feature naming,  messaging, and other communications for new features or products.
  • Help plan and write content design for large cross-pod initiatives like Navigation, Notifications, Search, Browse, Homepage and Marketplace
  • Provide ad-hoc content guidance and education to Product Designers and Product Managers
  • Audit, edit, and refine content focusing on consistency and UX writing best practices

Service Content and Evangelization:

  • Support content evangelization efforts to empower designers and their product teams to work efficiently with quality and consistency and ensure a unified voice across Whatfix
  • Help research gaps with and write Navi Service Documentation
  • Help define content design for adoption efforts

Evaluating and measuring content:

  • Collaborate with UX researchers to conduct user research that will assist in crafting data-driven content
  • Measure the effectiveness of content to improve it iteratively
