About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned design leader, manager, and mentor to join our Product Design team to lead our DAP product. Do you have a solid background across design craft and strategic approaches? Are you known for bringing a positive attitude that inspires high-impact work across the products and teams you oversee? If this all sounds like you, then keep reading.
As a design leader, you can coach and support your teams to thrive in fast-paced, hyper-growth environments. We want you to wow us with your track record of shipping best-in-class experiences built on user research, empathy, and vision.
You’ll have experience working with product and engineering leaders throughout the product development life-cycle as you manage and support your growing design team. You understand the importance of building a strong team culture, building trust, creating collaborative relationships with our product and engineering partners to innovative solutions through human-centered design, and upskilling everyone around them in the process.
Our designers are strong strategic thinkers and problem solvers who work on industry-defining innovations that are creating a new category. As our ideal candidate, you can oversee, support, and empower the designers to do their best work. You’re capable of zooming out to set the team vision and drilling down to the details to assess the polish of the work.
This role requires someone who can be a catalyst for innovation and creativity. As a new tech category, we want someone who is comfortable unscrambling new models and diverse problems to deliver true value to our business and our customers.
This role reports directly to the Global Head of Design UX Research.
What you’ll do
- Define and drive design quality, practice, and offerings that meet our business, customer, and end-user goals.
- Help to define the design vision that supports our product strategy and actively align team efforts to achieve it.
- Lead and mentor a team of designers through the end-to-end design process, championing and encouraging innovation, creative thinking, new ideas and solutions.
- Own craft and capability output across key projects, ensuring each project deliverable is of the highest quality.
- Plan and build curated design programs to solve customer and user journey problems with design thinking and best-in-class product design delivery.
- Represent the needs and voice of the user, championing these needs with cross-functional partners to help prioritize planning and process.
- Act as a strategic partner to product and technology stakeholders to ensure prioritization and delivery of key products and features through an inclusive design process.
- Assess performance and provide career guidance for members of your design team.
- Serve as design consultant to management across the company, cultivating relationships and effectively working with new and existing stakeholders across the business.
What you bring to the role
- 12+ years of relevant industry experience; 3+ years of design management experience; while also having demonstrated experience leading cross-discipline teams.
- Demonstrates hands-on leadership rather than solely focusing on management.
- Experience creating environments where design teams can do high-quality, creative, hypothesis-driven work.
- Background in building and strengthening the multidisciplinary skillsets of a product design team.
- Proven experience with driving and applying human-centered design processes while collaborating with customers, engineering, product management, and user researchers.
- Experience shipping highly visible work into a mass market.
- Strong in such areas of expertise as Service Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, and User Experience.
- Highly proactive with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong portfolio that represents the outcomes of your approach and contributions as a design leader.
